3 Easy Ways to Prevent Back Acne
- Posted on: Apr 5 2014
Like everything else in life, there are certain things that are out of our control — back acne for example. Certain factors that influence the appearance of acne such as genetics and hormonal fluctuations cannot be easily controlled. However, we often educate our patients here at our Mentor laser cosmetics practice that they can take the following easy steps as preventive measures against bacne.
Reduce or eliminate activities or objects that will put a lot of pressure on your back. This includes wearing heavy backpacks or any sports equipment that is directly in contact with your back. If you can’t avoid activities that require you to add more pressure into your back, it may be best to put pads underneath or wear cool, cotton T-shirts to reduce prolonged friction and pressure.
If you’re taking certain medications, you might want to figure out if they can increase your risk of causing bacne. These medications include drugs that contain androgens (male hormones) and lithium. Avoid these medications and try to seek other alternatives.
Avoid or limit your use of skin care products that are heavy on oil-based ingredients, particularly when it comes to lotions, body moisturizers, and sunscreen. You might want to use products that are labeled as non-comedogenic (products that do not clog the pores).
