Winter is a Great Time to Bid Adieu to that Tattoo

OK, we know. You’re really attached to that Angel of Death holding court on your biceps. And that intricate maze pattern that encompasses half your neck down your shoulder and arm is intriguing.
At least it was…when you had a few too many cocktails. Before the time you had the new high-profile job. Before the days when your skin started to sag and droop.
Now that tattoo isn’t so much a statement as something you’d like to get rid of. Winter is a great time to do it, when you’re covering up more of your body.
Tattoo removal in the old days
Before the lasers used today at Northcoast, tattoo removal was a messy, painful business. Really there were only two ways to do it. You could have the skin in the area surgically removed, or you could have the area basically sandblasted in a procedure known as dermabrasion.
As fun as both of those sound, they both involved scarring and painful recovery times. The scars ended up being as noticeable as the tattoos.
Lasers to the rescue
Fortunately, lasers have left the realm of space-age weapons and can now address problems such as spider veins, age spots…and tattoo removal.
At Northcoast we have different lasers that work best on different tattoo colors. The laser delivers a quick (billionths of a second), high-energy pulse of light that penetrates the surface of the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo. This energy causes the ink to break up into tiny particles that are small enough to be removed by the body’s lymphatic system.
How many treatments will I need to be tatt free?
Every tattoo responds to treatment differently, depending on the color, depth, age of the tattoo, composition of the inks, and other factors. Black, red, dark orange, and dark blue inks respond quickly to our lasers, while green, purple, brown, light orange, and light blue take more time. Most tattoos require a number of treatments — anywhere from 3 to 13 — spaced out from 6-8 weeks apart.
Had enough of that tatt? Let’s zap it into oblivion! Call the team at Northcoast Laser Cosmetics, 440-NEW-FACE, for your appointment.
