Deciding Between CoolSculpting and Standard Liposuction 2

Summer may be a few months away but this time of the year is actually the perfect time to think about body contouring procedures. By having a procedure done today, you will have sufficient time to recover and be bikini-ready once summer arrives!

How is CoolSculpting different from liposuction?

Traditional liposuction removes excess fat through a cannula (hollow tube) that is inserted into the body via an incision. CoolSculpting removes extra pockets of fat by drawing out the underlying fat in the target area with two cooling panels. The science behind CoolSculpting is based on the principle of cryolipolysis where fat is cooled before it is removed. Cooling excess fat facilitates easy removal. No incisions are made because the body will naturally flush the liquefied fat.

CoolSculpting offers the advantage of a shorter recovery period than traditional liposuction because there are no surgical incisions or anesthesia involved. Temporary side effects include numbness in the treated area, minor swelling, and slight bruising.

Is CoolSculpting better than liposuction?

The shorter recovery period for CoolSculpting doesn’t necessarily mean it is better than traditional liposuction. CoolSculpting works well in the permanent reduction of tiny, pinchable pockets of fat. Standard liposuction is ideal for larger deposits of fat in the abdomen, waist, buttocks, chest (in males), and the upper arms.

Whether it’s CoolSculpting or standard liposuction that you choose, the positive results can be maintained through diet and an active lifestyle.
