Don’t Forget About Waxing

Don't Forget About Waxing 2

That makes facial waxing a good alternative for removing hair between the brows, above your upper lip, on the chin, your sideburns, and cheeks.

Will waxing harm my skin?

Facial waxing should only be handled by professionals, such as the team at Northcoast Laser Cosmetics. This isn’t like the tough skin on your legs; facial skin is delicate.

Waxing to remove facial hair doesn’t harm the skin, but it isn’t a rejuvenating procedure either. After your treatment, especially if you had a larger area done, such as the cheeks, your skin will likely be red and irritated. You’ll need to keep the area clean, as it has a higher risk of infection.

Why is waxing my facial hair better than shaving it?

Waxing is better for a number of reasons:

  • Waxing lasts for at least two weeks. After shaving your prickly hairs return in just a few days.
  • After shaving, the hair that grows back is harder and somewhat prickly. Waxing removes the hair by the roots, so the hair that grows back is smooth and softer.
  • Waxing can damage your hair follicles if done repeatedly. This is key to reducing hair growth over the long term. Shaving has no effect on the hair follicles.

Can I take a shower after my waxing session?

It’s actually a good idea to take a shower before your waxing session, as the steam opens the hair follicles and makes it easier to pull out the hair. After your session you should wait from 5-8 hours before showering. It’s better if you can wait longer than that, such as overnight. This is because your hair follicles remain open for hours after your waxing, so excess moisture should be avoided. For sure, don’t take a bath, as the bacteria, skin cells, and bath products in the water could lead to an infection.
