Micro-needling Your Way to Better Skin

Micro-needling Your Way to Better Skin 2

What is automated micro-needling?

In the past, some attempts at micro-needling used devices that were simply rolled across the skin. These were called dermal rollers. But their results were inconsistent and their approach less than patient friendly.

But with Eclipse MicroPen automated micro-needling we can treat skin problems such as fine lines, wrinkles, skin tone and texture issues, and pigmentation problems quickly with minimal downtime.

The Eclipse MicroPen uses 12 tiny micro-tips to penetrate the skin to a precise depth. The body reacts to the penetration with a wound response, producing new collagen in the treatment area, improving the skin.

How we do micro-needling at Northcoast

First, we apply a thin layer of sterile saline solution to your skin in the areas to be treated. Then we set the pen to the penetration depth required for your particular skin problems. Next, in a single motion, the pen is gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. The procedure takes only 15-30 minutes depending on the area being treated.

After your treatment

Immediately after your session your skin in the treatment areas will be bright red. The healing time depends on the number of overlapping passes and the Eclipse MicroPen settings. For most patients their skin stays red for 2-4 days. Results continue to build for up to six months, as your skin’s collagen increases in the treatment areas. For the best results, a series of two to three treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart is recommended.
