Dye-VL

Vascular lesions, dilated capillaries and pigmentation are often the results of chronic sun exposure, age or medical conditions such as rosacea. When left untreated, these  conditions can leave unsightly marks on the skin and can adversely affect your confidence and self-esteem. Dye-VL by Alma Lasers is a highly developed new solution designed to reduce the appearance of pigmentation and superficial blood vessels and correct uneven complexions.

At Northcoast Laser Cosmetics, our goal is to help you feel more comfortable in your skin. We perform Dye-VL (DVL) treatments to address damaged tissue and remove blemishes from affected areas. In our endless quest for safe and effective skincare techniques, this innovative device has helped patients see dramatic improvements to their skin tone and texture. Drawing on clinically proven technology, Dye-VL allows those suffering from aesthetic skin problems to achieve a smoother texture, even skin tone and healthier, more radiant skin.

What is Dye-VL?

Dye-VL is a non-invasive, light-based aesthetic device used to treat common skin conditions such as facial redness, rosacea, telangiectasia, lentigines, as well as overall photo-damage. Based on Alma’s Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) and a highly developed form of intense pulsed light (IPL), Dye-VL boasts multi-purpose treatments and benefits for patients of all ages and skin types.

At Northcoast Laser Cosmetics, we draw on the versatility of the Dye-VL device to tailor treatment according to the needs and skin condition of each patient. Whether treating vascular lesions, broken capillaries or signs of sun damage, the Dye-VL procedure is designed to target the damaged tissue by harnessing light energy from a precise, narrowband spectrum. Since the delivery of light-based energy is gradual, controlled and bordered by a cool sapphire tip, the procedure boasts no damage to the surface skin as well as little discomfort and no downtime.

How Does Dye-VL Technology Work?

Dye-VL works through a series of three filters and concentrates the light within a narrow range. During the Dye-VL procedure, controlled waves of pulsed light energy are delivered deep within the skin tissue to damage the vessels or pigmented spots. The resulting heat causes the blood to coagulate and the veins to collapse in on themselves, ultimately causing them to be reabsorbed by the body over time. Since the wavelengths only target the melanin in pigmented lesions or blood vessels, the surrounding skin remains intact, allowing for minimal discomfort and less downtime than most traditional methods. The Dye-VL treatment also works to rejuvenate the skin by reducing discoloration, softening lines and targeting sun damage.

What Can Dye-VL Treat?

The Dye-VL has been praised for its ability to transform damaged or blemished skin into a smooth and even-toned complexion. At Northcoast Laser Cosmetics, we perform the Dye-VL treatment to help patients correct various skin problems and conditions, including:

  • Rosacea
  • Facial redness
  • Telangiectasia or spider veins (thread-like lines or patterns on the skin)
  • Hemangiomas
  • Broken capillaries
  • Vascular lesions
  • Pigmentation
  • Lentigines
  • Large pores
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sun and age spots
  • Discoloration

The Dye-VL Procedure

At Northcoast Laser Cosmetics, we will begin by evaluating your skin to determine the most suitable approach to treatment. Once your condition, concerns and skin sensitivity have been identified, we will cleanse your skin and place goggles over your eyes to protect the area during treatment. We will then apply a transparent cooling gel to the target area before beginning work on your skin. As the light energy penetrates the dermal layers, you may feel a slight burning sensation. However, the Dye-VL boasts a cold sapphire tip that not only helps to cool the skin and reduce pain, but also minimizes the chance of any damage to the skin’s surface. Depending on the extent of treatment required, the Dye-VL procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.

What to Expect After Treatment

Immediately after the procedure, you may experience some redness or swelling, though most symptoms disappear within 24 hours. You may also feel a tingling or slight burning sensation for up to six hours after treatment, which can be alleviated with an ice or cold pack applied at 10-minute intervals. Within the first few days of the healing period, you may experience flaking of the skin, though this is generally normal and no reason for concern. It is essential to avoid sun exposure to the treated area for at least two days following treatment, after which a broad spectrum sunblock must be applied.

How Many Dye-VL Sessions Will I Need?

At Northcoast Laser Cosmetics, we generally recommend a series of two to six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. This will vary depending on the individual needs and skin type of each patient, so we will work with you to determine the frequency and amount of sessions required to achieve your desired results. While you may see slight improvements after your initial treatment, the best results will accumulate after at least three sessions, as each Dye-VL procedure will result in a gradual lightening of the target area. In addition to being a safe and minimally invasive treatment, many patients have reported remarkable and even life-changing results.

Benefits of Dye-VL

Compared to traditional methods, Dye-VL offers a unique and relatively comfortable treatment experience with benefits for many patients, including:
