Laser Tattoo Removal in Mentor, Ohio
Northcoast Laser Cosmetics in Mentor can remove that unwanted tattoo!
Tattoos have been around for thousands of years – about as long as the desire to remove them. Tattoos may create barriers to employment and social acceptance at certain stages of life. Additionally, as colors fade and skin loses its youthful elasticity, tattoos may become defacements rather than decorations. Older methods such as “sanding” or surgical removal tended to leave the person with significant scarring rendering the outcome more offensive than the tattoo itself. The great news is: Laser tattoo removal has revolutionized the solution of unwanted body art.
How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
The laser delivers a quick (in billionths of a second) and high energy pulse which is absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo. This energy breaks the pigment into particles small enough for removal by the body via the lymphatic system.
How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments Will I Need?
Ease of removal depends on its color, depth, age of tattoo, chemical composition of inks and other factors. Black, red, dark orange and dark blue tattoos will respond quickly to treatment while certain colors such as green, purple, brown, light orange and light blue colors may respond more slowly. Most tattoos require a number of treatments at 6 – 8 week intervals with the average tattoo taking anywhere from 3 to 13 treatments for clearing.
What To Expect During and After Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment:
The treatment itself is described as a rubber band snapping sensation. Most of our patients say getting the tattoo was more painful than having it removed. We do offer a numbing agent that can be applied 30 – 45 minutes prior to the treatment if needed. Immediately after treatment your tattoo may become somewhat whitish and swollen with a red halo surrounding it. This subsides with icing. The Northcoast Laser Physicians have developed a post care treatment protocol to help promote the best esthetic outcome once treatment is complete.
