What areas of the face are treated with dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are products that are used to “fill” facial folds and restore volume to areas of the face that have begun to suffer the effects of aging. The improvements are immediate and natural-looking. Depending on the product chosen, effects can last up to a year or more.
Common areas include facial folds are the nasolabial folds (the “parenthesis” surrounding the mouth) and marionette lines (starting around the corners of the lower lip and extending downward). Mild to severe folds respond well to this treatment.
Volume loss often occurs in the cheek and lip areas. Dermal fillers are used to restore the natural and youthful look of sculpted cheeks and fuller lips.
Certain fillers can be used to fill vertical lip lines, acne scars and pockmark scars.
What can you expect after treatment?
Immediately after the treatment you may experience swelling that can last up to a few days. Bruising can occur up to 3 days after treatment and last up to a week to 10 days. You may be able to help minimize bruising by stopping all non-physician prescribed blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, St. Johns Wort and Ginko) 7 – 10 days prior to treatment.
How long do results last?
Depending on the product chosen, results may last six months to several years.
